Dear Colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the 10th Conference on Cybernetic Modeling of Biological Systems (MCSB 2026). Continuing a distinguished tradition dating back to 1978, MCSB remains one of the longest-running scientific meetings of its kind in Europe. Jointly organized in Kraków, Poland by Jagiellonian University Medical College and the AGH University of Krakow, the conference has long served as a unique forum for experts in medicine, the life sciences, engineering, and computer science to exchange ideas and foster collaboration.

The 2026 edition reflects the rapidly evolving landscape of digital medicine. Our scientific program will explore the frontiers of artificial intelligence and large language models, biomedical signal processing, digital twin technologies, virtual and mixed reality, and mobile health innovations. The conference also provides an excellent venue to present research in areas such as bioinformatics, public health informatics, personalized medical devices, and the ethical challenges associated with implementing these technologies in clinical and educational contexts.

This year, we place special emphasis on digital education, curriculum innovation in the age of generative AI, and the development of digital competencies among healthcare professionals. We are proud to continue our tradition of actively engaging doctoral candidates and students in shaping research events.

We warmly welcome researchers and practitioners who are passionate about digital innovation in healthcare, modeling biological systems, and interdisciplinary collaboration. We are confident that MCSB 2026 will once again provide an inspiring platform for scientific exchange, visionary ideas, and practical solutions that bridge theory and practice in the service of human health and well-being.

We look forward to welcoming you to Kraków!

With kind regards,

Andrzej Kononowicz

On behalf of the MCSB Scientific and Organizing Committee

History of the MCSB Conference

The Conference on Cybernetic Modeling of Biological Systems (MCSB) has a distinguished history dating back to 1978, when it was first organized in Kraków, Poland. From its inception, MCSB has served as a pioneering platform for integrating cybernetics, biomedical engineering, and biological sciences, at a time when computational modeling in biology was still in its early developmental stages.

The idea for the conference was initiated by Professor Jan Trąbka at the Jagiellonian University Medical College and Professor Ryszard Tadeusiewicz at the AGH University of Krakow, who recognized the need to bring together researchers working at the interface of engineering, computer science, and medicine. Over the decades, MCSB has grown into one of the longest-running scientific meetings of its kind in Europe, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration long before such approaches became a standard in modern research.

Throughout its editions, the conference has addressed topics ranging from biomedical signal processing, physiological modeling, and medical robotics, to today’s focus on artificial intelligence, digital health, and virtual reality applications in medicine. It has provided an important forum for Polish and international researchers to present their work, exchange ideas, and build long-term academic and professional partnerships.

The MCSB conference continues to be jointly organized by Jagiellonian University Medical College and the AGH University of Krakow, maintaining its unique role as a bridge between the medical, biological, and engineering communities. Its continuity over more than four decades is a testament to the vision of its founders and the dedication of the scientific community to advancing cybernetic modeling in the service of human health and well-being.
